The Yamaha R25 facelift is expected to gain several upgrades from the Yamaha R15 v3.0 such as upside down front fork, LED headlamp and assist & slipper clutch. The bike may also gain traction control as seen in the Yamaha XMax maxi-scooter which though gets a 250 cc single cylinder mill. The report adds that Yamaha has started readying the production line for the new bike.

The present generation version of the bike gets a 249 cc in-line twin cylinder, DOHC mill. The engine is capable of producing 36 PS of power at 12,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm. The bike however, may miss out on throttle by wire and riding modes as seen in the Honda CBR250RR. This will help Yamaha keep costs under check.

The Yamaha R25 facelift may also undergo a light-weighting program. The bike at present tips the scales at 166 kg. It has a 14 litre fuel tank and 160 mm ground clearance. It measures 2,090 mm in length, 720 mm in width and 1,135 mm in height. The Yamaha R25 facelift will also lead to a Yamaha R3 facelift for markets like India, Thailand, European Union, UK and USA.
