Yamaha Indonesia has confirmed on its Facebook page that the Yamaha YZF-R25 would be world premiered on the 20th of May 2014 in Indonesia.

To be placed in 'Sport' category above the R15, the company has also launched a teaser website IWantYamahaR25.com.

The Yamaha R25 concept bike premiered at the Tokyo Motor Show last year, confirming the company's interest in the 250 cc segment. The concept was unveiled in Indonesia at a dealer meet (by MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi) and was then presented in India at the 2014 Auto Expo.

Yamaha confirms that the Yamaha YZF-R25 will be showcased on the 20th of May in Indonesia.

Spyshots show that the production version is not too similar to the concept. Like the R15, the bike gets a fairing with twin headlamps and a centrally mounted pilot lamp. The speedometer is digital with a white background light. Rest of the features include LED taillight, stubby exhaust and 140 section rear tire.

Yamaha did not provide even a hint about the engine, but the regional media is reporting a parallel twin 250 cc engine with 35 hp output behind the cowl. The R25 would be positioned between the R15 and R6. Yamaha India have not confirmed launch plans, but we expect it to be brought here in the next 12 months.
