The production-ready Yamaha Tenere 700 adventure bike has been revealed at the EICMA 2018.

The adventure motorcycle was unveiled as the Yamaha T7 Concept at the EICMA 2016. It was followed with the unveiling of the Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid prototype at the EICMA 2017 in Milan, Italy. The bike is expected to go on sale in global markets by the second half of 2019.

If launched in India, the Yamaha Tenere 700 will compete with the Honda Africa Twin, Triumph Tiger 800, and the Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT. The Tenere 700 will be powered by a 689 cc, CP2 (crossplane), parallel-twin engine that also powers the Yamaha MT-07 and the XSR700.

While Yamaha hasn’t revealed power figures, the company has announced that the motor generates its peak torque at 6,500 rpm.
The same engine produces 74.8 hp of maximum power and 68 Nm of peak torque on the Yamaha MT-07. Yamaha claims that the Tenere 700 has a riding range of 350 km and a fuel tank capacity of 15.8 litres. Speaking about the engine performance and ability of the bike, Yamaha said:

Producing maximum torque at 6,500rpm, this engine provides the ideal balance of performance and controllability, and its excellent fuel economy contributes to the Tenere 700’s ability to cover long distances between fuel stops.

The Tenere 700 uses a double-cradle, lightweight, steel tubular chassis that uses the engine as a stressed member. The adventure motorcycle comes equipped with 43 mm adjustable upside-down front forks with 210 mm of suspension travel and a remotely adjustable rear mono-shock with 200 mm of wheel travel.

The Yamaha Tenere 700 has a wheelbase of 1,590 mm and a massive ground clearance of 240 mm. The bike rides on a 21-inch front and an 18-inch rear spoke-wheel setup that work with Pirelli Rally STR knobby tyres. Braking is aided by twin 282 mm petal discs at the front and a single 245 mm petal rotor at the rear, with switchable ABS.
