Yamaha has launched the third iteration of the famed R15, the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 at this year's Auto Expo. So, what exactly does the Version 3.0 offer over the Yamaha YZF-R15 V2.0? Read on to find out.
The Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 sports redesigned bodywork which is now more in line with its litre-class sibling, the R1. The headlamps are now full LED instead of the twin halogen units. The silhouette looks more compact than the older generation bike, while maintaining the sporty character.

The Yamaha YZF-R15 V2.0 comes with an old-school analogue-digital combo cluster. Whereas, the V3.0 gets a fully-digital multifunction instrument cluster with shift light indicator; VVA indicator, and connector for USB charging. The new-gen bike also features a new Deltabox frame with optimised rigidity around the pivot area. The new-gen engine’s output higher up in the rev-band, thanks to the VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology.
The new bodywork, frame, and engine have resulted in 3 kg extra weight when compared to the V2.0. The Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 also enjoys the benefit of a slipper clutch which helps in downshifting quickly without losing the bike’s composure. All these technologies come at a marginal premium of INR 6,162 over the previous generation motorcycle. The Japanese brand has increased the ground clearance in the V3.0 by 10 mm.
