Paris Live - 2015 Renault Espace

Renault calls it a crossover.

The 2015 Renault Espace has broken cover at the ongoing 2014 Paris Motor Show.

The new Renault Espace is the production version of the Initiale Paris Concept.

The MPV which Renault likes to term as a crossover is essentially the production version of the Initiale Paris Concept unveiled at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show.

The sleek looking MPV is characterized by a prominent chrome grille and slender headlamps upfront. The long greenhouse, a high waistline and large wraparound taillights render a crossover's appeal to the profile. A small windshield, contoured tailgate and a silver skid plate are the noteworthy elements at the rear.

The interior gets a floating centre console and both five and seven seat variants are available. Renault says that the modular property of the interior is one of the salient features of the stylish MPV.

The new Espace measures 4.85 m in length, 1.87 m in width, 1.68 m in height and 2.88 m in wheelbase.

The 2015 Espace is offered with a 1.6-litre petrol engine which produces 200 PS and 260 Nm of torque when mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 1.6-litre diesel engine is available in two states of tune - 130 PS and 320 Nm (six-speed manual), and 160 PS and 380 Nm (twin-turbo variant mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission).
