Spied - New Tata Kite hatchback spotted in Pune
Expected to launch next year as a replacement to the Indica.
Joining the Tata Kite-based sedan, is the upcoming Kite hatchback. The car, seen totally covered under camouflage in this latest picture, will replace the Indica when it goes on sale next year.
Published by Motorbeam, the picture was shot in Pune, Maharashtra. While the Kite is going to be based on the same platform as the Indica, it will offer a better balance in ride and handling thanks to minor engineering changes. And since the time its first indigenously developed passenger car the Indica came out back in the late 1990s, Tata has developed a good understanding of what the Indian customer wants. So expect a better quality interior, too.
The car will be available in two engine options: a new 1.2-litre petrol and a smaller 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder diesel, the latter developing about 64 hp and 142 Nm. The Kite is also expected to benefit from the automated manual transmission (AMT).

The Kite hatchback will be manufactured at Tata's facility in Sanand, Gujurat. The Indigo-CS replacement Kite sedan could also be produced at the same plant.
