Refreshed Tata Nano Twist Active spotted on test - Spied

Nano to be a more functional car with new features.

The Tata Nano is due for a facelift this year, though its skin deep exterior changes are not the talking points this time around. Buyers will be more interested in the feature changes of the Nano facelift instead, which for the first time promises an openable hatch and an automated manual transmission (AMT).

Smoked headlight clusters and new bumpers are a sure way of identifying the refreshed Nano.

Tata showcased the Nano Twist Active (openable hatch) and Nano Twist F-Tronic (AMT) concepts at the Auto Expo last year, and these variants will be brought into the market this year according to sources. The Nano F-Tronic when launched, will be the most affordable automatic car in the country.

The F-Tronic unit in the Nano is announced to be a 5-speed unit supplied by Italian firm Magneti Marelli, the same company which makes AMT kits for the Maruti Celerio and K10. Apart from a clutch-free experience, the Nano AMT will be 15-20 percent more fuel efficient than a conventional automatic, Tata said at the time of the showcase.
