61 cars debuting at 2016 Geneva Motor Show - IAB Picks

The 2016 Geneva Motor Show opens its doors for the media on March 1, 2016 and following is the list of new cars that will be seen at the show.

2016 Alfa Romeo Giulietta

Update - The 2016 Giulietta has been revealed ahead of the show.

Introduced at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta will receive its second facelift at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show next month. It will likely be a more comprehensive facelift than the one introduced at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Alpine AS1/Alpine A120

Rumored to be named Alpine AS1 or Alpine A120, Alpine's new sports car will mark its re-entry into the automobile market this year. The highly anticipated compact sports car will likely be based on a rear-wheel drive platform and be offered with a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine based on the Renault Clio R.S.'s 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine, reports say, will be tuned for three different outputs - 250 hp (185 kW), 275 hp (205 kW) and 300 hp (220 kW).

Aston Martin DB11

Replacing the company's most important launch of the 21th century yet - the Aston Martin DB9, the Aston Martin DB11 will be powered by a twin-turbo V12 engine sourced from Mercedes-AMG.

2016 Audi S4 Avant

The performance oriented Audi S4 Avant develops 354 hp and 500 Nm of torque from its 3.0-liter TFSI V6 engine. Sales will start later in the year.

Audi Q2

The Audi Q2 will be Audi's new entry-level crossover. Smaller than even the Audi Q3, the Audi Q2 will potentially have no rivals from the German competing brands, let alone Jaguar Land Rover. The Q2's market launch outside Europe will happen likely in H2 2016.

Audi RS Q3 performance

Late last year, we had the Audi RS 6 performance and Audi RS 7 performance, and now at the Geneva Motor Show this year, the company will introduce the Audi RS Q3 performance. The Audi RS Q3 performance sports a 2.5-litre TFSI turbocharged five-cylinder engine that produces 270 kW (367 PS/362 hp) and 465 Nm of torque, and can do 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 270 km/h.

Bentley Mulsanne facelift:

The updated Mulsanne is available in standard and extended wheelbase specifications. A 6.75-liter V8 bi-turbo engine is the motor of choice and develops 505 hp or 530 hp in the faster 'Speed' edition.

Bentley Flying Spur V8 S:

Bentley has confirmed the Flying Spur V8 S for the Geneva Motor Show 2016. Slotting between the V8 and W12 variants, the V8 S packs a 4.0-liter bi-turbo developing 521 hp and 680 Nm of torque.

2016 BMW Alpina B7 Bi-Turbo

Alpina is gearing up to introduce their high-performance iteration of the sixth generation BMW 7 Series that made its public debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The 2016 Alpina B7 Bi-Turbo sports a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 447 kW (608 hp) and 800 Nm of torque. The all-new model can reach 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and go further to hit a top speed of 310 km/h.

BMW 7 Series (M760Li xDrive)

No, there's still no pure BMW M variant of the BMW 7 Series, but this is as close as it gets. The BMW M760Li is the new flagship model in the sixth generation BMW 7 Series range. It sports a 6.6-litre M Performance TwinPower Turbo biturbo V12 engine that churns out 441 kW (600 hp) and 800 Nm (590 lb.-ft.) of torque. All that monstrous power is directed to the wheels via an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and go further to hit a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). Opting for M Driver's Package increases the top speed limit to 305 km/h.

BMW 7 Series (740e/740Le iPerformance)

With the BMW 740e/740Le iPerformance, BMW is introducing new nomenclature system for its plug-in hybrid models. All plug-in hybrid BMWs will bear the 'iPerformance' suffix starting July 2016. The 740e/740Le iPerformance's plug-in hybrid powertrain generates 240 kW (326 hp). Fuel economy (combined) and CO2 emissions figures are marked at 47.62 km/l and 53 g/km respectively.

Bugatti Chiron

Even more awaited than the Aston Martin DB11, the Geneva Motor Show's big show-stopper will be the Bugatti Chiron. The Bugatti Veyron successor is rumored to be powered by a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain and capable of having a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 2.0 seconds and a top speed of 288 mph (464 km/h).

Citroen SpaceTourer

The Citroen SpaceTourer, replacement for the Citroen Dispatch Combi, is Citroen's new passenger van based on the PSA Peugoet Citroen's EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform 2) modular platform. Three variants will be available in the UK - XL, M and XS, with the latter being 4.60 metre long one that can seat up to 9 people. The new MPV will go on sale by June this year.

Citroen SpaceTourer HYPHEN concept

Citroen joined hands with French electronic pop music group "HYPHEN HYPHEN" to create a funky and robust version of the Citroen SpaceTourer - the Citroen SpaceTourer HYPHEN. Like its exterior, the concept people mover's interior too has been done very bright and colourful. The concept is not any different from the regular production version in any major technical aspects.

2016 DS 3/DS 3 Cabriolet

The 2016 DS 3 features a revised front-end with "DS Wings" hexagonal grille and minor updates, as well as a few technology updates like inclusion of Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink (for Android smartphones). The range includes a new 'Performance' model that features 15 mm lower suspension, 26 mm wider front track and 14 mm wider rear track, and larger brake discs (323 mm front, 249 mm rear). This model sports a 1.6-litre THP S&S engine that produces 208 hp and 300 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and Torsen limited slip differential.

DS E-Tense

The DS E-Tense concept is powered by a 402 hp electric motor with 516 Nm of torque, and is announced with a range of up to 360 km.

Ferrari GTC4Lusso

Ferrari needed to give a mid-life facelift to its only 4-seat model - the Ferrari FF, and it did so, but by replacing the 'FF' moniker with 'GTC4 Lusso'. The new name takes us back to the 20th century reminding of a few classic Ferraris like the 330 GTC or its 4-seat version, the 330 GT, and even the 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso.

The design and styling update also brings better aerodynamics, and a resultant improvement in the coefficient of drag from the FF. The 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine has been updated to produce 507 kW (680 hp) and 697 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h is clocked in 3.4 seconds now, 0.3 seconds faster, but the top speed remains the same at 335 km/h.

Fiat Tipo Hatchback

The Fiat Tipo Hatchback is the hatchback version of the Fiat Egea (Fiat Tipo) and the successor to the Fiat Bravo. To be introduced in a 5-door form, the Fiat Tipo Hatchback will be available in right-hand drive version also. The Renault Megane rival is expected to be offered with the Tipo sedan's 1.4- and 1.6-litre petrol and 1.3- and 1.6-litre diesel engines.

Fiat Tipo Station Wagon

A Fiat official has confirmed that the Fiat Tipo Station Wagon will celebrate its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show.

Ford Fiesta ST200

The "most powerful production Fiesta ever" comes with a 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine setup to make 200 horsepower and 213 pound-feet of torque. The Ford Fiesta ST200 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and has a top speed of 230.13 km/h.

2016 Ford Kuga:

The updated Kuga with the new SYNC3 infotainment system and 120 hp 1.5L diesel engine will be showcased at the Geneva show.

Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype

Honda will unveil the next-gen Honda Civic Hatchback in a near-production form. Its production model will be the third body style of the tenth generation Honda Civic range after the sedan and coupe versions.

Hyundai Ioniq range

The Hyundai Ioniq range (Hyundai Ioniq EV, Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid and Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid) will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show in their Euro-specification.

Jaguar F-Type SVR

The Jaguar F-Type SVR is the first series production Jaguar to be developed by Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations division. The company is saving all technical specs except the 200 mph (km/h) top speed of the coupe version. A leaked brochure however, reveals that there's a 5.0-litre V8 engine producing 423 kW (575 PS/567 hp) and 700 Nm of torque. The coupe version can do 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and as, revealed officially, hit a top speed of 322 km/h. The convertible version can also sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, but it maxes out at 313 km/h.

Kia Niro:

The Kia Niro crossover will have its European premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, Kia confirmed. The hybrid crossover is powered by a 1.6-liter GDI engine paired to a 32 kW electric motor and a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Kia Optima Sportswagon

Kia has confirmed the Kia Optima Sportswagon for the Geneva Motor Show 2016. Based on the Kia SPORTSPACE concept, the Kia Optima Estate will go on sale in Europe later this year.

Lamborghini Centenario

The centenary of Ferruccio Lamborghini, founder of Lamborghini, will be celebrated with the world debut of a new limited-series model - the Lamborghini Centenario LP 770-4. Word out there is that the Italian automaker plans to make only 40 units of this hypercar and that the order books are already closed.

Lotus Evora Sport 410

The Lotus Evora Sport 410, with a weight loss of 70 kg, claims a top-speed of 300 km/h with a 3.5-liter V6 410 hp engine.

Maserati Levante

After a long wait, the Maserati Kubang concept will finally evolve into a production crossover - Maserati Levante. Based on a modified version of the Maserati Ghibl's rear-wheel drive platform, the highly anticipated Porsche Cayenne rival is said to be offered with 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol, 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol and 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine options.

2016 McLaren 650S GT3

McLaren is bringing a more capable version of the McLaren 650S GT3 as an update for the 2016 motorsport season. Complete technical specifications are expected to be released next month itself.

McLaren 570 GT

The McLaren 570GT with a 3.8-liter V8 bi-turbo capable of 570 hp and 600 Nm of torque is confirmed for the show.

Mercedes C-Class Cabriolet

The new generation Mercedes C-Class Coupe went on sale in December last year following its public debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA). Its open-top version, the Mercedes C-Class Cabriolet, will be unveiled to the world in Geneva next month and likely go on sale by the end of the first half of this year.

Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe

The Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe gets a 3.0-liter V6 bi-turbo engine capable of 362 hp, and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. It will be revealed at the Geneva show alongside the C Class Cabriolet.

Mercedes V-Class EXCLUSIVE

The Mercedes V-Class EXCLUSIVE, or the Mercedes V-Class EXCLUSIVE EDITION as named in Germany, is a high-end Mercedes V-Class priced from €74,911 in Germany. The V-Class EXCLUSIVE/V-Class EXCLUSIVE EDITION boasts features like sports suspension, 19-inch light-alloy wheels, 17-inch braking system, new panoramic sunroof, new large centre console with refrigerated compartment, thermo-cupholders and 16-speaker Burmester surround sound system.

Mitsubishi L200 concept

Not much is known about this concept, even the name isn't confirmed. But from a teaser image Mitsubishi has released, it can be said that the concept based on the new generation Mitsubishi L200 that will be unveiled in Geneva next month likely features adventure-focused modifications and that the exterior features orange accents on various elements and a roof box up top.

Mitsubishi ASX concept

This concept's name is also yet to be announced. It can be seen only in the same shady teaser for the aforementioned Mitsubishi L200 concept as of now. The Mitsubishi ASX concept appears to have been modified in the same way as the Mitsubishi L200 concept.

Nissan Qashqai, X-Trail Premium Concepts

Special versions of the Nissan Qashqai and Nissan X-Trail, branded 'Premium Concepts' will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show.

Opel GT Concept

Opel says that the Opel GT Concept is a direct descendant of the Opel GT from the sixties and the seventies and the Monza Concept that was introduced at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show (2013 IAA). Without door handles or exterior door mirrors, the sub-1000 kg concept sports car seems to be far from production. Under the hood, there's a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder that produces 107 kW (145 hp) and 205 Nm of torque.

Opel Mokka X

The Opel Mokka has received a substantial facelift for the 2016 model year, and with the update, it's now being called 'Opel Mokka X'. Along with the exterior, Opel has given good attention to the interior too. The centre console has been redeveloped completely and features 7- and 8-inch new generation IntelliLink touchscreen infotainment systems. A new generation 112 kW (152 hp) 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine in combination with 6-speed automatic transmission will be available now.

Pagani Huayra BC:

The hardcore version of the Huayra, the Huayra Benny Caiola (BC) will celebrate its public premiere at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

2016 Peugeot 2008 facelift

The Peugeot 2008 facelift has been confirmed for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Among the list of changes is a new GT line variant.

Peugeot Traveller

The Peugeot Traveller replaces the Peugeot Expert this year and is the second model among a trio of MPVs jointly created by PSA Peugeot Citroen and Toyota Motor Europe using the former's EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform 2) platform. To be available in both private and commercial versions, the Peugeot Traveller will go on sale by June this year.

Peugeot Traveller i-LAB concept

The Peugeot Traveller i-LAB concept is a business-oriented MPV based on the recently introduced Peugeot Traveller. It comes loaded with an array of technologies like cloud access, Wi-Fi hotspot, new generation navigation system with 3D mapping, 32-inch touchscreen tablet in the back and 17-speaker sound system.

Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman

The Porsche Boxster and its coupe cousin, the Porsche Cayman, are getting a facelift this year with a name change. Both models will now be marketed as 718 model series. Announcing the name change in December last year, the company said that the Porsche 718 Boxster and Porsche 718 Cayman will have equally powerful turbocharged four-cylinder flat engines.

Porsche 911R

The Porsche 911R with white paint with dual red stripes, and a manual transmission is another Porsche expected to break cover at the Swiss show. Early reports predict that just 500 units will be made, and the car will have a 4.0-liter 6-cylinder engine borrowed from the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Renault Scenic

The Renault Scenic will enter its fourth generation this year with a full makeover. The next-gen model is based on the C/d version of the Renault-Nissan Alliance' CMF (Common Module Family) modular platform.

Skoda VisionS SUV Concept:

The Skoda VisionS concept will have its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show previewing a future 7-seat SUV for the brand, poised to hit showrooms later in the year.

Spyker C8 Preliator

Dutch exotic carmaker is getting back in business, thanks to the merger with Volta Volare, with the Spyker C8 Preliator. It's expected to make use of electric power, at least up to certain level if not fully, from technologies developed by the company's Portland-based partner.

Subaru XV concept

 

The Subaru XV concept will preview the next-gen Subaru XV. The concept will likely have exterior with cues borrowed from the Subaru Impreza 5-Door Concept and the Subaru Impreza Sedan Concept unveiled last year, albeit with a uniquely rugged design.

Suzuki Baleno

The Suzuki Baleno will be showcased at the Geneva show with the Boosterjet engine or a DualJet engine with SHVS tech.

Suzuki S-Cross facelift (Maruti S-Cross facelift)

According to reports, the facelifted S-Cross will have its premiere at the Geneva Motor Show 2016, three years after it was introduced in the market.

Ssangyong SIV-2 Concept:

The Ssangyong SIV-2 concept previews a large-size SUV for the brand, which is reported to enter the market sometime in 2018.

Ssangyong Tivoli XLV:

The Ssangyong Tivoli XLV is the 7-seat version of the compact Tivoli SUV. It will debut at the show in its production avatar.

Toyota C-HR

Showcased first in 3-door form and then in 5-door form, the Toyota C-HR concept is finally making it to the production this year. The production version will be a compact hybrid crossover competing the recently unveiled Kia Niro.

2016 Toyota Proace

The second generation Toyota Proace is the third model among the trio of new MPVs created jointly by PSA Peugeot Citroen and Toyota Motor Europe. Like the Citroen SpaceTourer and the Peugeot Traveller, the Toyota Proace is also based on the EMP2 platform and will go on sale by June 2016.

2016 VW Up! (facelift):

The facelifted VW Up! with a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and exterior and interior updates will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show, VW confirmed.

VW Polo Beats Edition

While an image has not been released, VW has confirmed a special Beats edition based on the Polo for the Geneva show.

VW T-Cross concept

The VW T-Cross is an alleged concept previewing a VW Polo-based sub-compact crossover set to enter production in 2018 with global competitors like Mazda CX-3 and Nissan Juke in mind.

Volvo V90

The Volvo S90's estate version and the Volvo V70 successor - the Volvo V90, has already been leaked in official images. Aside from the increased boot space, the V90 will be very similar to the S90 sedan.

Volvo V40 facelift

The V40 facelift with updated 'Thor' LED headlights has been confirmed for the Geneva Motor Show.

Volvo XC90 Excellence

The Volvo XC90 Excellence, with two captain chairs at the rear, makes its European premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. It features an extended leather-covered surfacing, adjustable rear seats with a massage function, specially designed headrests, a refrigerator, two folding tables and cup holders with both heating and cooling options.
