China-spec 2016 Honda Civic sedan spotted testing - Spied

Reported to launch in March 2016.

The tenth generation 2016 Honda Civic has been spotted testing in China, courtesy of Autohome readers. Reports suggest that it will be launched in March 2016, and could be manufactured by the Dongfeng-Honda joint venture.

The test prototype simply has a white wrap over its exterior, which appears to be identical to the model sold in the U.S. Compared to the outgoing model, the 2016 Civic Sedan measures nearly 2 inches (50 mm) wider and 1 inch lower (25 mm), with a 1.2-inch (30.5 mm) longer wheelbase.

The U.S.-spec Civic is available with two engine options: a 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated VTEC DOHC four-cylinder engine with 158 hp at 6,500 rpm and 187 Nm at 4,200 rpm, and a 1.5 turbo VTEC mill with 174 hp at 5,500 rpm and 220 Nm of torque from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual (2.0 variant only) and a CVT.

As for the Indian market, Honda Cars India has not announced plans to re-launch the Civic nameplate in the country. Instead, the Japanese car maker plans on introducing the Accord and the BR-V in 2016, and will showcase them at the upcoming Auto Expo in February.
