Production of the Civic hatchback has commenced in the UK.

Honda is displaying the Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2016 (GIIAS 2016). First showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the concept previews the 2016 Honda Civic Hatchback.

The tenth generation Honda Civic Hatchback will be offered with 1.0- and 1.5-litre petrol engines and a 1.6-litre diesel engine.

Save for the extra-racy styling typical for a concept, the tenth generation Honda Civic Hatchback will be largely unchanged from what's seen in this concept currently being exhibited in Indonesia. The tenth generation Civic Hatchback will be 130 mm longer, 300 mm wider and 20 mm lower than the ninth generation Civic Hatchback.

In Europe, the 2016 Honda Civic Hatchback will be offered with the new 1.0- and 1.5-litre VTEC TURBO turbocharged petrol engines, as well as a heavily revised 1.6-litre i-DTEC turbocharged diesel engine. These engines should be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission and a continuously variable transmission.

The next-gen Honda Civic Hatchback will be built exclusively at the Swindon plant in the UK.

In the U.S. and Canada, the new generation Honda Civic Hatchback will be launched as 2017 models. The familiar 1.5-litre VTEC TURBO will be the only available engine initially. Next year, though, the Si performance and Type-R high-performance variants will be introduced, both powered by 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The all-new Honda Civic Hatchback will be built exclusively at the company's Swindon plant in the UK.
