Lighter by 30.8 kg over its predecessor.
Seen here is a detailed image gallery of the 2016 Honda Civic which made its world premiere in Los Angeles, CA, last week.
The tenth generation Civic is now lighter by 30.8 kg over its predecessor despite being 1.2 inches longer in wheelbase and 2 inches wider. This translates to an additional 2 inches of rear legroom, an extra 3.7 cu.ft. (104 liters) of interior space and 2.6 cu.ft. (73.6 liters) of boot space.
The new Civic for the American market will be available with two engine options. A 16-valve 2.0-liter four-cylinder i-VTEC engine capable of 158 bhp (15 bhp more than the previous gen Civic) will be offered with a 6-speed manual or a CVT. The highlight in the engine range, the new 1.5-liter four-cylinder VTEC Turbo, expected to produce 173 bhp, will come paired to a "unique" CVT.
Under the skin, engineers have improved torsional rigidity by 25 percent thanks to ultra-high strength steel, while the design has improved aerodynamics by 12 percent. The 2016 Civic now gets LED taillights as standard, whereas LED headlights are optional, a first on the nameplate.
Automatic climate control, a new 7-inch touchscreen entertainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electronic parking brake and a part digital instrument cluster are other features seen on the new Civic.
