The most noticeable exterior change spotted so far is the new taillight cluster, which could be similar to the unit offered in the Brazilian-spec Duster. The front-end is expected to feature updated headlamps, re-designed bumper and an improved grille design.

Under the hood, the 2016 Renault Duster is likely to retain the 1.5-liter dCi diesel engine available in two power outputs: 85 PS and 110 PS. Other than a standard manual gearbox, a report claimed that Renault may offer a 6-speed dual-clutch EDC automatic transmission, given the rising interest for diesel automatic SUVs. Like the current model, an AWD system with independent suspension will be offered in the range-topping trim.
