USA-spec 2017 Honda Civic Type R price leaked, EPA rating reaffirmed

First-ever Honda Civic Type R to officially sell in the USA ready to reach dealerships.

The 2017 Honda Civic Type R has reached the USA and is ready to hit dealer forecourts. An image of the window sticker of one of the units ready for shipment, posted by Instagram user sky_ep3, reveals that the 2017 Honda Civic Type R has an MSRP of $33,900 (INR 21,83,515.95) and is priced at $34,775 (INR 22,39,875.14) including destination and handling.

On the outside, the flagship Honda Civic Hatchback features an exclusive aero kit, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights, 20-inch alloy wheels shod with 245/30 R20 high-performance summer tyres, LED tail lights, rear wing spoiler and triple outlet sport exhaust.

On the inside, 2017 Honda Civic Type R is equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control, suede effect sport seats, aluminium shift knob, sport pedals, 7-inch Display Audio infotainment system with satellite navigation, multi-view rear camera, voice recognition, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and 12-speaker audio system with subwoofer.

The 2017 Honda Civic Type R is powered by a 306 hp 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine which sends power to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. The Type R variant is equipped with a limited slip differential, Brembo front brake calipers, adaptive damper system and 3-mode drive system as standard. It has a kerb weight of 3,117 pounds (1413.85 kg), and its EPA-rated fuel economy figure is 22 mpg (city)/28 mpg (highway)/25 mpg (combined).

The 2017 Honda Civic Type R is made at the Swindon plant in Wiltshire, England, and is a truly global product. 15% of the parts content is from USA/Canada, including the engine (USA), while 25% including the transmission, is from Japan. Another major source of foreign parts in the U.S.-spec Civic Type R beside Japan is the UK, rated at 20%.
