2018 Renault MPV (Renault RBC) imagined - Rendering
After the Renault Captur next month, Renault will launch an MPV (codename: Renault RBC) in India next year. IAB’s automotive illustrator Shoeb Kalania has created a speculative rendering of the 2018 Renault MPV.
The Renault RBC may have the grille layout, headlamps and tail lamps inspired by those of the company’s European MPVs such as the Renault Scenic and Renault Espace for a contemporary front and rear. So that the MPV qualifies as a small car and attracts lower taxes, Renault will keep its length under four metres. The wheelbase will take up most of the length, leaving very short overhangs at the front and rear. The interior may look quite similar to that of the Renault Kwid.
The Renault RBC will ride on a modified version of the CMF-A platform - CMF-A+. The new MPV will have a wheelbase longer than the Renault Kwid’s (2,422 mm). Renault could offer it with the 1.0-litre SCe petrol engine that produces 68 PS and 91 Nm of torque. Transmission choices may include 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual.

The Renault RBC will compete with the Datsun GO+ in the entry-level MPV space, slotting below the Maruti Ertiga. Its prices could start at around INR 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Renault intends to achieve Kwid-like success with the sub-4 metre MPV.
