Production of the 2019 Honda Civic commences at HCIL's Greater Noida plant

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has commenced the production of 2019 Honda Civic at its Greater Noida facility. The tenth-gen model will launch in India on March 7 and is likely to cost between INR 18-24 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings of the new model have been underway for a token amount of INR 31,000.

The 2019 Honda Civic is the facelifted version of the tenth-gen model that was unveiled in August 2018. The notable exterior features that the refreshed model carries include LED headlights, C-shaped LED tail lights, chrome accents on the bumper and front grille, chrome-plated door handles, flush-fitting side turn indicators, and indicators on the ORVMs.

The 2019 Honda Civic will be sold in three trim levels - V, VX, and ZX. The top-spec trim will be kitted out with a handful of premium features, including an electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control, 7-inch driver information display, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and an 8-way electrically adjustable driver's seat. The safety suite on the top-end trim comprises Honda Lanewatch blindspot monitoring system, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Start Assist, Agile Handling Assist, Stability Control, and electric parking brake.

The 2019 Honda Civic will be available with two engine options - 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel. The former is a BSVI-compliant unit that outputs 141 PS at 6,500 rpm and 174 Nm 4,300 rpm. It comes mated to a CVT. The oil-burner on offer comes from the CR-V and offers 120 PS at 4,000 rpm and 300 Nm at 2,000 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol motor boasts an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 16.5 km/l, while the diesel mill returns 26.8 km/l under the regulatory test cycle.

New Honda Civic Production Begins In India — The eighth-gen Honda Civic was sold in India between 2006-2013. The tenth-gen model will go on sale in India next month.
