With its sharp and aggressive face, taut proportions and sleek, swept-back bodylines, the 2019 Honda Civic will look the sportiest C-segment sedan in the Indian market.

The tenth generation Honda Civic, introduced globally in September 2015, received a facelift just back in August this year. India will get directly the facelifted model. The mid-cycle refresh has brought some evolutionary styling updates to take the aggressive and sporty design a notch up. At the front, these changes include a new piano black upper fascia “wing”, restyled lower fascia, bumper and lower grille, a full-width splitter and updated headlights.

On the sides, the 2019 Honda Civic features new alloy wheels. At the rear, the chrome accent on the lower bumper and the decklid spoiler are the only updates. Inside, the main revision is the addition of a volume button to the 7-inch Display Audio touchscreen infotainment system.

The lack of a diesel engine option was the main reason behind the fall of the Civic in India back in the eighth generation. After a gap of a generation and a half, Honda is coming prepared this time. In addition to a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, the company will offer a 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine.

The 1.6-litre single-turbo diesel engine, already available in the latest Honda CR-V, produces 120 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Unlike in the SUV, customers will have no choice to settle for a standard 6-speed manual transmission if they go for this engine. The 1.8-litre N/A petrol engine develops 141 PS and 174 Nm of torque. It will come linked to a CVT.
