Brazilian-spec Renault Kwid spotted during final pre-launch tests

Will launch in five variants: Urban, Life, Iconic, Zen and Intense.

The Renault Kwid has been spied undisguised during its final pre-launch tests in Brazil. Prices are expected to be announced on May 15, while deliveries could start from June. Renault has already launched a new microsite of the Brazilian-spec Kwid for prospective customers to learn more in the following days.

Prices for the Brazilian-spec Renault Kwid are expected to be announced on May 15.

Top-end variants will exclusively get 14-inch gunmetal alloy rims, rear wiper and defogger, and body colored-ORVMs. The dimensions will be more or less identical to the Indian version, which measures 3,679 mm in length, 1,579 mm in width and 1,513 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,422 mm.

As previewed by the Renault Kwid Outsider concept at the Sao Paulo Auto Show 2017, the Brazil-spec version will have a slightly redesigned centre console, featuring window, door lock and rear defogger buttons located under the 7-inch MEDIANAV display, and a new instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer and tachometer dials, as well as a digital multi-info display.

A significant difference with the India-made Kwid is its safety quotient. The Renault Kwid in Brazil is 140 kg heavier owing to structural reinforcements with increased usage of high-strength steel. It also comes equipped with ISOFIX child seat anchor points, four airbags and ABS as standard, which should attract prospective buyers and help the Brazil-spec Kwid fare much better than the single star Renault Kwid (Indian version) in NCAP tests.
