The BS4 compliant version of the Yamaha R3 will be launched in November, states a report from BikeAdvice.in.

Expect the BS4 version of the R3 to sport new colours as well.

The media house spoke to Roy Kurian, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Yamaha India asking about the brand’s plans for the bike. Kurian replied:

We had the R3 which has been temporarily discontinued in the Indian market. It will be brought back very soon.

The Yamaha R3 was only BS3 compliant, and hence it went off the market during the transition from BS3 to BS4 emission norms on April 1.

Expect the updated bike to continue with the 321 cc inline twin cylinder mill coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 42 PS of maximum power at 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm of peak torque at 9,000 rpm. The bike gets telescopic forks at the front and a monocross at the rear. Brakes include discs on both ends and expect Yamaha to offer ABS.

The R3 uses a 321 cc inline two cylinder engine with liquid cooling.

Once relaunched, the Yamaha R3 will rival the recently released Benelli 302R, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the KTM RC 390. Launched in 2015, the R3 cost INR 3.26 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi before it went off the market. In February this year, the bike was recalled in the country for a faulty bracket and power switch.

Expect Yamaha to make an announcement in the festive season on the updated bike.
