Fully faired Hero Xtreme 200R/Karizma 200 spied in production guise [VIDEO]

A mysterious, fully faired motorcycle with Hero MotoCorp badge was recently captured on video. The short video does not reveal many details, but the Hero sticker on the side panel is clearly visible. This is probably the first look at the fully-faired Xtreme 200R, which could be named Karizma 200.

It should be noted that a report from December last year had said that Hero MotoCorp was working on a 200 cc fully faired motorcycle. This model is expected to share its underpinnings and engine with the Hero Xtreme 200R, although it may not carry the Xtreme branding. Hero MotoCorp may launch it as the Karizma 200.

A report from September last year stated that Hero MotoCorp plans to introduce four bikes in the 200 cc segment. The company has already launched the Xtreme 200R while the Xpulse 200 and Xpulse 200T are expected to arrive soon. The fully faired motorcycle, then, would complete the list.

The bright orange bodywork is complemented with contrasting black highlights. The headlight isn’t clearly visible, but we expect to see a twin-pod unit on the fully faired model. This model could have a full-LED unit performing the illumination duties. The motorcycle features a tall windscreen that should come handy during highway runs.

The fascia is followed by a fully digital instrument console – a feature that is not seen on the Xtreme 200R, which has an analogue tachometer instead. The Xpulse 200, however, comes with a fully digital console, and the display on the spied 200 cc motorcycle has an identical design. The Xpulse 200’s instrument console offers Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, and we expect the upcoming 200 cc fully faired motorcycle in the video to also come with these features.

Steering duties are performed by a naked roadster-style single-piece handlebar that should offer upright and comfortable ergonomics. The full fairing, tall windscreen and upright ergonomics should deliver decent touring capabilities, enabling the rider to munch miles for a longer stretch.

The alloy wheel design is identical to that of the Xtreme 200R. The fully faired motorcycle would feature the same set of MRF tyres as that of the naked roadster. Expect to see 100/80-17 section tyre at the front and 130/70-R17 unit at the rear.

Mechanical specifications would most likely be identical to the Xtreme 200R - a 199.6 cc single-cylinder, 2-valve, SOHC, air-cooled motor mated to a five-speed transmission and delivering 18.4 PS of maximum power and 17.1 Nm of peak torque.

Anchoring and suspension setup would also be retained from the Xtreme 200R. Stopping power would come from 276 mm disc at the front and 220 mm disc at the back while the safety net would include a single-channel ABS. The front brake also gets steel-braided lines. Shock absorption tasks would be performed by conventional telescopic forks at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear.

The spy video reveals Hero MotoCorp's upcoming 200 cc motorcycle. The upcoming motorcycle, as seen in the video, features fully digital screen that it would share with the Xpulse 200 and thus get Bluetooth connectivity.

In terms of pricing, the fully faired motorcycle will carry a premium over the Xtreme 200R. The naked roadster retails at INR 89,900 (ex-showroom Delhi). Its fully-faired version may carry a sub-INR 1 lakh ex-showroom price tag. The new model appears to be ready to hit the production line, and we should hear an announcement from Hero MotoCorp soon. It would compete with the likes of Bajaj Pulsar RS200 and the upcoming KTM RC125.
