Reporting sales for August, Hero Motocorp said it was on track for the launch of its 125 cc scooters. The company said "Hero MotoCorp will soon launch two new 125cc scooters to provide more excitement during the upcoming festive season. With the peak festive season coming in the months of October and November this year, the Company expects to maintain the trajectory with healthy double-digit growth in the coming months."

The Hero Destini, positioned as a family scooter, targets the Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access.

The first scooter, the Hero Destini, is nothing but the Hero Duet 125 showcased at this year's Auto Expo, will challenge the Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access when launched.

ArrayDesigned and developed at Hero’s Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur, the Hero Destini's power comes from a single cylinder, air-cooled, 124.6 cc engine developing 8.7 bhp at 6,750 rpm and 10.2 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. It is coupled to a Variomatic Drive transmission.

As reported earlier, Hero has included i3S start-stop system on the scooter to improve fuel efficiency; the first time Hero introduces this technology in a scooter. The Activa 125 rival is shod with 90/100-10 section tubeless tires and gets 130 mm drum brakes at the front and rear.

Hero will not offer a disc brake, even as an option, on the Destini 125. The 111.5 kg scooter gets a telescopic fork up front and a single coil spring hydraulic type suspension at the rear. Other features on the Destini 125 include a LED taillamp, external fuel lid, under-seat storage light and a mobile charging point.

The Hero Destini gets the company's i3S start-stop technology. It is the first Hero scooter to offer this tech, which until now, is reserved for commuter motorcycles.
