Hero HX250R is developed in association with technical partner Erik Buell Racing (EBR).

The world's largest two wheeler maker (by volume), Hero Motocorp has filed to trademark its upcoming flagship offering, the HX250R in Europe, as per reports by various international media.

The HX250R is the first bike from the company to feature a 6-speed transmission.

The new quarter litre sportsbike which premiered ahead of the Auto Expo this year has been developed with inputs from the company's US-based technical partner EBR. It is to be noted that Hero Motocorp holds nearly 50% stake in the American superbike maker.

The inputs for the powertrain came from AVL of Austria and Engines Engineering of Italy. The powerplant is a 249 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected unit which generates an impressive 31 bhp and 26 Nm of torque. A 6-speed gearbox transfers power via a chain drive.

Underpinned by a tubular steel frame which holds the engine as a stressed member, the compact sportsbike is claimed to tip the scales at just 139 kg. A light kerb weight gives it a higher power-to-weight ratio compared to its primary global rival, the Honda CBR300R.

The HX250R could use EBR branding in certain international markets.

In terms of design, the fully faired motorcycle features a fresh design with dual-headlamps, underseat exhaust and sharp elements throughout. The conventional suspension system comprises a telescopic fork (front) and monoshock (rear). A single disc at each wheel with ABS provides deceleration.
