Hero Maestro Edge 125 cc scooter launch by mid-2015 - Report

The company's first offering in the 125 cc scooter segment.

Hero MotoCorp is the sole mainstream brand in the Indian market who does not have a 125 cc offering in the scooter segment. But that is set to change this year.

The 125 cc Maestro Edge would reportedly make just 1 bhp over the 110 cc variant.

According to a report by Motor Octane, Hero is planning to launch a 125 cc scooter, dubbed the Hero Maestro Edge. The Maestro has been successful model launch for Hero, and now the company plans to capitalise on it's brand name by using it on the larger-displacement variant, imitating Honda's strategy with the Activa.

The Maestro Edge would be using an air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that would reportedly produce 9 bhp, just 1 bhp more than the standard Maestro. The scooter would have a better ride quality than it's 110 cc counterpart, says the report, as it would most probably be introduced with new telescopic forks at the front and a revised rear suspension.

Hero would also look to strengthen its position in the 110 cc segment this year with the Dash (pictured)

The new scooter would be offered in disc and non-disc brake variants. On the top-of-the-range Maestro Edge variant, one can expect to see disc brakes along with alloy wheels that would add to the scooter's premium appeal.
