IAB Report - Hero Motocorp debuts in Bangladesh with 11 models, announces manufacturing facility

The country's largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero Motocorp has made its debut in Bangladesh, launching 11 models.

The company has also joined hands with Bangladesh's Nitol Niloy Group to set up a manufacturing facility in Bangladesh. Hero owns 55 percent of this joint venture. The plant is set to become operational in the Q2 of the 2015-16 fiscal and has an installed capacity of 150,000 units per annum. The company plans to achieve 20 percent market share in Bangladesh in the first year of operation.

The plant is Hero's first-ever overseas manufacturing facility. The 11 products that were launched, at present imported from India, will be sold through 50 outlets the company has deputed in Bangladesh.

The whole project, as of now, has cost Hero Motocorp a total of $40 million (Rs 243 crore).

The range of Hero two wheelers being made available in the country include models like the entry level segment 100 cc bikes HF Dawn & HF Deluxe, Splendor+, Splendor Pro, Splendor iSmart, Passion Pro, the deluxe segment 125 cc Super Splendor and Glamour and the premium segment 150 cc Xtreme and Hunk, and the 100 cc scooter Pleasure.

All models come with a 5-year unlimited warranty, says the company.

2013-14 was a record year for Hero Motocorp which saw it selling a total of 6.25 million units, the highest ever in its history.
