American bike maker Erik Buell Racing, the technical partner of Hero Motocorp, has unveiled its new 1190SX naked superbike in the presence of select media in Indianapolis, US.

The EBR 1190SX is essentially the naked sibling of the fully faired 1190RX that was unveiled in October 2013. It's to be noted that Hero Motocorp, in association with EBR, has entered the World Superbike Championship 2014 with a race-prepped 1190RX.

Save for the front fairing, both bikes are pretty similar in styling. Just like any other naked superbike, the 1190SX gets a headlamp with minimal design. Another visual difference is the radiator housing which carries 1190SX decal.

The big bore naked street fighter inherits its hardware from the track focused 1190RX. Though EBR is tight lipped about the technical specifications of the new bike, it's expected to be same as the RX. The engine is a 1190cc 72-degree V-Twin which belts out an impressive 185 hp and 138 Nm of torque. The six-speed transmission employs a hydraulic multi-plate slipper clutch.

The bike is held together by an aluminium twin-spar chassis and is suspended by 43mm Big Piston Fork upfront and monoshock at the rear, both from Showa. The hubless front wheel employs a 8-piston 386mm disc while the retardation of the rear wheel is managed by a 2-piston 220m disc. The wheels come shod with premium Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa rubber.

The 1190RX is equipped with multi-stage traction control but surprisingly ABS is missing. According to media reports, EBR is developing an ABS system which would be offered at a later stage.

Without saying specifically when, EBR has announced that the 1190SX naked superbike will go on sale this year.
