Hero MotoCorp will launch the Hero Xpulse 200 adventure touring motorcycle in India before the end of this fiscal (March 2019). The company unveiled the Xpulse 200 at the EICMA 2017, while the production-spec model made its Indian debut in February, days before the Auto Expo 2018.

The Hero XPulse 200 will be launched before the end of FY2018-19 (March 2019).

New details and studio images of the production-spec Hero Xpulse 200 were leaked in June 2018. The Xpulse 200 is seen as a spiritual successor to the Hero Impulse 150, which was discontinued in March 2017. The Xpulse 200 shares its frame and mechanicals with the Hero Xtreme 200R, which is now available at a price of INR 89,990 (ex-showroom Delhi).

According to Hero MotoCorp, designers have chosen function over form for the entry-level adventure tourer. The Hero Xpulse 200 features round LED headlamp, a recessed fuel tank, flat single-seat setup, slightly raised tail section, and LED taillights. The motorcycle comes equipped with an engine bash plate, raised exhaust canister and a tall windshield. The Xpulse 200 comes with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels with dual-purpose knobby tires from CEAT.

Suspension setup includes long-travel telescopic front forks with a spindle off-set, while the rear features an adjustable mono-shock. The adventure tourer will also feature an all-digital display for the instrument cluster, while the single-channel ABS unit will be carried over from the Hero Xtreme 200R. The production-spec model gets Bluetooth Smartphone connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation and an under-seat USB charger.

The Hero XPulse 200 will source power from the same 200 cc motor that thrusts the Xtreme 200R. On the Hero Xtreme 200R, the 200 cc oil-cooled, two-valve, single-cylinder engine produces a maximum power of 18 bhp at 8,000 rpm while developing a peak torque of 17 Nm at 6,500 rpm. A 5-speed gearbox transfers control to the wheels. That said, Hero MotoCorp is likely to retune the engine to provide better low-end and mid-range torque on the adventure tourer.

The Hero Xpulse 200 will compete in the entry-level adventuring segment that comprises motorcycles like Royal Enfield Himalayan and the BMW G 310 GS which have a much higher starting price.

The Hero Xpulse 200 will get a fuel tank capacity of 14 litres, a ground clearance of 220 mm and a seat height of 825 mm. Anchorage will come from disc brakes at both the ends. The bike will come with suspension travel of 190 mm at the front wheel and 170 mm wheel travel at the back. The Xpulse 200 is likely to cost around INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom).
