A report from CarandBike states that Hero MotoCorp will employ the Xtreme 200R’s powerplant in the production version of its off-road friendly bike, the Hero XPulse.

The XPulse will address the power deficiency that the Impulse suffered from.

Hero MotoCorp unveiled the XPulse concept at the 2017 EICMA show in Milan, Italy. The dual-sport design of the motorcycle is ideal for both urban and off-road use. Speaking to the website, Mallo Le Masson, Head of Global Product Planning, Hero MotoCorp said:

The Hero XPulse is a concept and we're still some time away from a production version of the XPulse. In terms of overall chassis, mainframe and engine, this (the Xtreme 200R) will be the base for the production version of the XPulse.

Though the two bikes share the powerplant, the XPulse is likely to have an off-road friendly tune.

The production version of the XPulse will have a different state of tune, and perhaps different gearing too, in order to tackle rough terrain. Hero will reportedly launch the motorcycle in mid-2018. However, expect the Indian brand to showcase the concept at the 2018 Auto Expo as well. When the brand launches the bike, it would be a less-expensive and lighter alternative to the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The bike is likely to command a premium over the Xtreme 200R, whose price will be out at the Expo.
