Hero Xtreme 200R gets another price hike, now available at INR 91,900

Following the announcement of a price hike across its portfolio, Hero MotoCorp has revealed the ex-showroom (Delhi) price of the Xtreme 200R.

The Hero Xtreme 200R, which was launched at INR 89,900*, now retails at INR 91,900*.

The Heero Xtreme 200R now retails at INR 91,900*, which is INR 2,000 more than the launch price tag of INR 89,900*. The 200 cc naked roadster had received an INR 1,900  increase in the ex-showroom cost in April this year when it was priced at INR 88,000*. The most recent price hike is part of the 1% increase that Hero MotoCorp announced for its complete portfolio. The fully-faired Xtreme 200S, too, received a marginal price increase and it now retails at INR 99,400* as against INR 98,500* at launch.

The feature list of the fully-faired Xtreme 200S makes it costlier than the naked roadster, which misses out on LED headlight, fully-digital instrument console with navigation functions and fairing design. The Xtreme 200R packs a halogen headlight and a semi-digital console that comprises analogue tachometer.

Mechanical specifications are identical on both the variants and the Xtreme duo is propelled by a 199.6 cc SOHC air-cooled motor that packs 18.4 PS of max power at 8,000 rpm and 17.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a five-speed transmission. The current engine uses a carburettor system, while the BS-VI version will pack a fuel-injector, along with other hardware upgrades, to comply with the more strict emission norms.

The braking department, too, resembles on both variants, and the stopping power comes from a 276 mm and a 220 mm disc at the front and the rear respectively. The safety net comprises single-channel ABS. The motorcycle rides on 37 mm telescopic hydraulic front suspension and a seven-step adjustable rear monoshock.

The Hero Xtreme 200R (pictured) misses out features like LED headlight and fully-digital instrument console that are available on the Hero Xtreme 200S.

Despite the price increase, the Hero Xtreme 200R remains the most affordable 200 cc motorcycle in the Indian market. Its closest rivals in terms of displacement such as the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V (INR 1.11 lakh*) and the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 (INR 1.12 lakh*) retail above the INR 1 lakh* price range. The Suzuki Gixxer 155 also threatens the 200 cc Hero MotoCorp product, although the Xtreme 200R has a displacement and a price advantage. The Suzuki model, for reference, retails at INR 1,00,212*.
