Honda CBR250RR world premieres in Indonesia

To launch in Indonesia later this year.

PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) has revealed the Honda CBR250RR in Indonesia, ahead of its sales start later this year in the archipelago. Aimed at delivering the "ultimate fun of motorcycle maneuvering", the Honda CBR250RR is designed totally from a clean slate in all areas, says the company.

The Honda CBR250RR is designed totally from a clean slate; the powertrain and chassis are all-new.

The Honda CBR250RR is based on a newly designed frame which has a truss structure composed of steel pipes for better flexibility and strength. Honda details that the swing-arm of the bike gets a gull-arm type made of aluminum through Gravity Die Casting (GDC), so as to further reduce unsprung weight. It also enables the muffler to get closer to the center of gravity and optimizes banking angle. The front suspension is composed of 37 mm Showa inverted forks.

Coming to the powertrain, the CBR250RR gets a 'new generation' 250 cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4 valve, twin-cylinder unit developed through collaboration of Japanese and Indonesian engineers. By using clever architecture (the primary drive gears are inside the cam chain, the oil pump is an integrated unit and the water pump is in the cylinder head), Honda claims the width of this twin-cylinder unit is 'almost equivalent' to a single-cylinder engine from the same category.

Honda has not released the specifications of this engine, but claims class-leading acceleration and output. The Honda CBR250RR is also equipped with throttle-by-wire system as standard.
