Honda Civic to launch in India around February 2019 - Report
After ignoring India for a complete generation and remaining absent for roughly six years, the Honda Civic is finally set to return to India. According to a new report from Autocar India, the tenth-gen's launch will be held around February 2019.
The tenth generation Civic was ready in production form in September 2015, but Honda has taken its sweet time “evaluating” the sedan for our market. Thankfully it will launch the car here directly in the facelifted avatar.
The 2019 Honda Civic features minor styling updates. Changes to the front-end further accentuate the car’s low and wide athletic stance and sporty looks with a new piano black upper fascia “wing,” restyled lower fascia, bumper and lower grille, a full-width front splitter, chrome side pod accents, and updated headlights.
At the rear, the refreshed Civic has chrome accent on the lower rear bumper. Honda has revealed just one interior change - the updated 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a volume button for easier operation.
Customers will have two engine options in India: 140 hp 1.8-litre i-VTEC naturally aspirated petrol and 120 hp 1.6-litre i-DTEC turbocharged diesel, as per the report. Transmission choices will include 6-speed manual and CVT, with the latter exclusive to the petrol engine. Honda has decided to do away with a diesel-AT option as that would have proved very expensive.

The 2019 Honda Civic will compete with the Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla Altis and Skoda Octavia. Prices could start north of INR 18 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
