The XBA with AMT is reportedly heading for an unveil on May 20.

Hyundai and Renault will be the latest manufacturers to offer the AMT (automated manual transmission) technology on their products in India. German-based ZF Sachs is reported to supply AMT modules for both companies, while Magneti Marelli supplies for Maruti and Tata.

The Grand i10 is presently offered with a 4-speed AT on the petrol model.

The first Hyundai model to benefit from an AMT would be the Grand i10, reports Autocar India. Launched in September 2013, the Grand i10 is available with a petrol and a diesel engine, though its the former which is available with a 4-speed automatic transmission as an option. It remains to be seen if Hyundai opts to equip the diesel variant of the hatchback with the AMT, or replaces the 4AT on the petrol model.

The first Renault product to get an AMT will be the 'XBA', which is reported to be unveiled on May 20 in India (world premiere). The 0.8-liter petrol engine of the small car with the AMT is expected to return high fuel efficiency, though the French car maker is yet to release any details.

In the sub-10 lakhs segment, the Renault Scala is available with a CVT gearbox.
