Thanks to Renault Kwid, India is Renault's 6th largest global market
Registrations for a new Renault grew 200 percent.
Thanks to the massive success of the Renault Kwid, India is now Renault's 6th largest global market. The number of registrations received for a Renault product increased by 200 percent, compared to other markets, reports Business Standard.
Renault has received over 125,000 orders for the Kwid, and pushed out nearly 23,000 units to dealers since the beginning of 2016. To register more sales, the company has increased the production rate to nearly 10,000 units per month by introducing a nightshift. This has reduced the waiting period from six months to four months.
Renault will expand the lineup with the Kwid 1.0-liter and the Kwid AMT variants later in the calendar year. They were showcased at the Auto Expo, and will appeal to people looking for more power, safety features, and easier drivability from the hatchback.

The Renault Kwid is expected to face real competition once the Datsun redi-GO launches. Reported to be priced lower than the Kwid, the redi-GO will ride on the same CMF-A platform and source the 0.8-liter SCe engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
