Russia - Lada Vesta to replace Lada Priora, late 2015 launch
Lada will replace the Priora sedan with a new sedan called the Lada Vesta, a report on Carobka says.
The new car is built on Lada's B-platform and replaces the Priora sedan in the Russian market. The Priora was built by Lada at its Tolyatti plant starting in 2007. The front-engined, front-wheel-driven car was built in different shapes including as a four-door sedan, 3-door hatch, 5-door hatch and a 5-door station wagon.
The Priora was powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that made 98 hp and was mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The sedan measured 4,350 mm in length, 1,680 mm in width, 1,420 mm in height and had a wheelbase of 2,492 mm.
We expect to see the same engine doing duty on the Lada Vesta, which is likely to launch in 2015. Though the launch is a while away, we expect to see a concept at the Moscow Motor Show towards the end of August this year.
The Priora featured electric power steering, dual airbags, heated front seats, exterior electrically operated rear-view mirrors, automatic headlamps, rain sensor, ABS and climate system. These features can be expected to carry over for the Priora's replacement as well.
