Mahindra Imperio (Mahindra Genio facelift) double-cab - IAB Rendering

Will target export markets and rival the Tata Xenon.

Mahindra will also introduce a double cab variant of the upcoming Mahindra Imperio (facelifted Genio), which will launch on January 6 in India. Based on spyshots, our rendering artist, Shoeb R Kalania has made a new render of the Imperio double cab.

The Imperio double cab will mainly target export markets like South Africa and Australia.

The Imperio gets a facelifted front end with a ‘toothed-grille’, sleeker headlights, circular foglight enclosures, and a new front bumper. The rest of the design looks largely similar to the Genio pick-up that it replaces.

Inside too, the Imperio will look well familiar to a customer upgrading from the Genio, as seen in the design of the steering wheel, instrument cluster and center console. However, the Imperio gets the Power and Eco driving modes that are seen on the Mahindra Maxximo Plus.

While the India-spec Imperio could get the 2.5-liter four-cylinder mDI CRDe diesel engine with 75 hp and 220 Nm of torque, export markets are likely to get the more powerful 2.2-liter mHawk engine with 4x4 drive system. It will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The Imperio double cab will mainly target export markets like South Africa and Australia, where it will serve as a low-cost alternative to established pick-ups like the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.
