Mahindra Imperio to launch on January 6, 2016 - IAB Report
Takes on the Tata Xenon and Isuzu D-Max.
Mahindra & Mahindra has revealed the launch date of the Mahindra Imperio as January 6, 2016. The Imperio is expected to replace the existing Mahindra Genio pickup.
Intended at consolidating the company’s leadership in the Small Commercial Vehicle segment, the Imperio has been conceptualised and developed in-house at Mahindra Research Valley near Chennai. It will be manufactured at the production plant in Chakan, Pune.
To rival the Isuzu D-Max, the Imperio features a new frontal design with a premium appeal which is expected to be carried on to the interior as well. The side and rear profiles are mostly the same as the Mahindra Genio. The powertrain is expected to be carried over from the Genio with the same state of tune, which is the 2.5-litre mDI CRDe inline four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 75 hp of maximum power and 220 Nm of peak torque at 1,400-2,200 rpm, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
