Maruti Future S Concept was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018. It was among the highlights of the motor show. The concept car with a futuristic and SUV-ish design captured the crowd’s attention. Its bold styling elements include upright windshield, tallboy stance, high bonnet, rugged bumper, thin headlights, and prominent skid plates. Most of these design cues are carried toward the production-ready version. However, the quirkiness design was tone down a bit, making it proper for the mass market.
At its debut in 2018, the interior of the concept car was also revealed, showing the edgy and futuristic design. The concept car features bold orange accents, a squarish steering wheel, round center console that combines the infotainment system and instrument cluster. Notably, the rear doors of the Future S Concept were rear-hinged which was later omitted on the mass-produced version. The compact was developed by Maruti Suzuki’s in-house team.
Maruti Future S Concept Production Verion - Maruti S-Presso
Maruti Future S Concept was later on launched under the name Maruti S-Presso. Known as a micro SUV, the S-Presso is competing against the likes of Renault Kwid, Maruti Wagon R, and even Hyundai Santro. The production version keeps the tallboy stance, offering an impressive ground clearance of 180 mm. The SUV-inspired elements could be found across the body, like the pronounced bumper, upright windshield boxy headlights, and so on. On the inside, the production version of the S-Presso gets inspiration from the Future S Concept but rendered it conventional for the common folks. It gets the roundish centre control that doubles as an infotainment touchscreen and instrument cluster. The orange accents are utilized but in a milder manner compared to the concept model. What’s deemed successful in the new S-Presso is its impressively large interior room, compared to other cars of the same segment.
Powering the micro-SUV is a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder engine which is also used on the Alto K10 and WagonR. This engine is powerful enough for 68PS and 90Nm. This engine comes with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT. Maruti
