Mid-spec Tata Buzzard with Tata Harrier's 17-inch wheels spied [Video]

Soon after IAB brought you the top-spec Tata Buzzarrd's spy shots last week, now a spy video showing the mid-spec Tata Buzzard has surfaced online.

'Buzzard' is only a provisional name, Tata Motors has confirmed. The name will be something different at the launch, and reports say that 'Cassini' is the name that has been locked. It's no news now that his model is a 7-seat version of the Harrier with a slightly different design.

The fact that the test mule seen here is of the Tata Buzzard's mid-spec grade is evident from the fact that it is equipped with the 17-inch alloy wheels of the Tata Harrier. The range-topping configuration will sport 18-inch alloy wheels.

On the outside, the Tata Buzzard carries dramatic similarities with the Tata Harrier till the C-pillar, behind which, it has a bigger quarter glass. While the five-seater has a sporty, coupe-esque roofline, the seven-seater has a stepped roofline to create decent headroom for the third-row passengers. At the rear, the latter is differentiated mainly from a more upright tailgate and the tweaked tail lamp design. Instead of extending the wheelbase to create more space for the third-row seats, the engineers have stretched the rear overhang, by 63 mm.

The Tata Buzzard is 4,661 mm long, 1,894 mm wide and 1,786 mm tall. It has a 2,741 mm wheelbase. It will employ the yet-to-be-announced BS-VI 2.0-litre Kryotec170 diesel engine good for 170 PS and 350 Nm. 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic will be the transmission choices. The latter will be sourced from Hyundai. Like in the Tata Harrier, an AWD system won't be offered.
