New Tata Tiago (facelift) - IAB Rendering

The Tata Tiago, launched in April 2016, will receive a facelift by early next year. IAB’s digital illustrator Shoeb Kalania has created a rendering to preview the expected design of the updated car.

The Tata Tiago is expected to get only minor design changes with the facelift.

The Tiago has achieved immense success in the domestic market, and while it’s still far from becoming the No.1 car in its segment, it’s the best-selling Tata Motors model right now.

IAB’s rendering shows the facelifted Tata Tiago featuring new JTP-style headlamps with chrome finish, thicker chrome strip on the front grille, more muscular front bumper with sharper contours, rectangular fog lamps, vertical LED DRLs and new dual-tone alloy wheels.

On the safety front, the Tata Tiago is yet to receive co-driver Seat Belt Reminder and high-speed alert system and feature driver Seat Belt Reminder and driver airbag as standard to conform with the new safety regulations that come into effect in July 2019.

The upgrade to the BS-VI emission norms also depends on the launch timeline. In case the launch takes place around the end of the year, one can expect the BS-VI upgrade to coincide.

The high cost of the BS-VI upgrade could make the continuation of the Revotorq diesel engine unfeasible for an entry-level car like the Tata Tiago.

Currently, the Tata Tiago is available with a 1.2-litre Revotron three-cylinder petrol engine (85 PS/114 Nm) and 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel engine (70 PS/140 Nm). The continuation of the latter post the BS-VI rollout looks unlikely.
