Hero MotoCorp is developing the next generation Hero Karizma for the domestic and international markets, reports Bikewale. The Hero Karizma range was discontinued as it was not upgraded to BS IV compliance. The official website still lists the Hero Karizma ZMR, but the bike is no longer available at dealerships.

The second generation Karizma had a different design, with twin projector headlamps.

As per Bikewale’s sources, the design and engineering team are developing the new generation motorcycle. The website reports that the bike will not hit the showrooms for the next two years, and Hero could showcase the bike at the 2020 Auto Expo in India. The new bike should be BS VI emission compliant as the norms will kick in by 2020.

The Karizma ZMR employs a 223 cc single cylinder mill with air and oil cooling. It is good for 20 bhp and 19.7 Nm.

While the first generation Karizma did well in the market, the second-generation bike failed to garner good sales numbers. Hero developed the second gen bike in conjunction with Erik Buell Racing. The Indian bike maker showcased the R and ZMR variants in dual-tone colours at the 2016 India Auto Expo. Expect the next generation motorcycle to have a new design, with a new, more powerful engine to take on the competition of the future.
