Renault Brazil drops first teaser of Renault Kwid
To launch in Brazil in H2 2016.
Renault Brazil has dropped the first ever teaser of the local-spec Renault Kwid, and launched a microsite for prospective customers to register for more information. It will launch in H2 2016.
The Renault Kwid will be locally-assembled in Brazil with parts imported from the model's production hub in India, where the underlying CMF-A platform has been highly-localized. To meet the strict Latin NCAP regulations, the Brazilian-spec Kwid was co-developed by Renault Technology Americas (RTA) and Renault Design Latin America (RDLA). It will feature four airbags and ABS as well as a slightly modified body structure.
Spyshots have revealed that the exterior of the Kwid will be largely similar to the model sold in India, save for redesigned side moulding, black plastic accent across the c-pillar, and slightly tweaked bumpers & wheel arches. Reports suggest that the interior of the local-spec Kwid will have better build quality, and the instrument cluster will consist of analogue dials and an MID, rather than a full digital display in the India-spec model.
