Frankfurt Live - Renault Initiale Paris Concept previews next gen Espace
The Renault Initiale Concept which made its world premiere at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show previews the next gen Renault Espace.
The Initiale Paris Concept sports what looks like a futuristic interpretation of Renault's current family identity. The design study is characterized by a bold Renault Lozenge, bigger front grille (compared to the recently updated Renaults) and sharp LED headlamps.
Measuring 4.85 metre in length, the concept's profile is dominated by a huge glass area and 22" alloy wheels. The triangular taillights flow into the muscular shoulder lines and the rear bumper sports a honeycomb shaped mesh.
The minimalistic interior has a space age appeal to it. The multi-layered instrument console and the touchscreen on the centre console look very tech savvy. The concept offers a 5+2 seating layout, making full use of its length. Ambient lighting and a Bose surround system with 32 speakers and two sub-woofers make it a theatre-on-wheels!
The Initiale Paris Concept is powered by a twin-turbo dCi 130 diesel engine. Renault claims that the motor is 25% more economical than other diesel motors with similar performance stats and emits 40g less CO2/km. The engine is mated to a 6-speed EDC automatic gearbox featuring F1 derived shift-by-wire control.
