Renault Kwid gets 7,000 bookings in Brazil - Report

According to Motor1, Renault Brazil has received an overwhelming 7,000 bookings for the locally-produced Renault Kwid. Deliveries are expected to commence between August and September.

Priced between BRL 29,990 – BRL 39,990, the Kwid available in three grades: Life, Zen and Intense. Similar to the India-spec Kwid's reception in our country, the Brazilian model garnered huge interest owing to its SUV-inspired styling, class-leading space and practicality, good list of features and featuring 4 airbags + ABS as standard. Renault were so confident in their product that they even released pre-launch advertorials that attacks its closest rival - the VW Up!.

Powering the Brazilian spec Kwid is a 1.0-litre flex-fuel engine producing 66 hp & 9.4 kg.m with petrol, and 70 hp & 9.8 kg.m with ethanol. It is claimed to average 15.2 km/l (petrol) and 10.5 km/l (ethanol). The Kwid will only be sold with a 5-speed manual gearbox, for now. It is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 14.7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 156 km/h.

The Kwid garnered huge interest owing to its SUV-inspired styling, class-leading space and practicality, good list of features and featuring 4 airbags + ABS as standard.

Some of the standard features in the Brazil-spec Kwid includes colour-coded bumpers, 14-inch steel wheels with three lug nuts, front seats with fixed headrests and height-adjustable seatbelts. The top-end Intense grade gets MediaNav 2.0 touchscreen system with built-in GPS, and reverse camera, Electric trunk opening, power ORVMs, fog headlamps and chrome-finished door handles.
