Renault Kwid AMT to launch 'shortly' after Kwid 1.0 MT
Will be a 5-speed 'Easy-R' unit.
Renault India CEO, Mr. Sumit Sawhney, has divulged to journalists at the Kwid press drive event that the Renault Kwid 1.0 AMT variant will launch shorty after the Kwid 1.0 MT. The arrival of the latter variant is scheduled for August 22.
Renault has not revealed much details about the AMT unit, but it's likely to be a 5-speed unit branded 'Easy-R'. It will be paired to an all new 999 cc three cylinder SCe engine, which produces 68 PS and 91 Nm. With the 5-speed manual option, the Kwid 1.0 is capable of averaging 23.01 km/L.
The gear selector of the AMT variant is unique; it is a dial located beside the window controls on the center console with the usual selection of gears. It also has a crawl function that helps move forward/reverse slowly without throttle input. Unlike the Maruti Alto K10 AGS, the Kwid AMT doesn't have the option to shift gears manually.
