Renault Kwid crosses 3 lakh sales milestone in India
Renault Kwid was originally launched in September 2015, and now the entry-level hatchback has surpassed the 3 lakh unit sales milestone in the Indian market. Since its launch, the A-segmenter has only received minor tweaks along the way, but the company is also working on the 2020 Kwid (facelift) which has been spied a number of times in the past.
When launched, the Kwid instantly became a hit in the market thanks to its distinctive 'SUV-inspired' looks and appeal, along with its competitive pricing which helped Renault to gain notable shares in the entry-level hatchback segment. The company says, the fact that the car's manufacturing process features 98 percent localisation, has helped in pricing it aggressively against its competition cars.
Apart from that, another factor which has certainly helped Renault popularize Kwid is its list of segment-leading features such as 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, one-touch lane change indicators and more.
Earlier this year, the company also updated the car with additional safety features like ABS with EBD, driver’s airbag, a driver and passenger seatbelt reminder and a speed alert system as standard across Kwid's entire variants. It is offered with two engine options including a 0.8- and 1.0-litre SCe three-cylinder petrol engines. The 0.8- and 1.0-litre SCe three-cylinder petrol engines deliver 54 PS/72 Nm and 68 PS/91 Nm respectively. The transmission duties are done by a 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual transmissions (1.0 SCe).
