Renault Kwid's 0.8L engine delivers 57bhp & 74Nm - Report

A report on Autocar India reveals the specifications of the Renault Kwid, which is expected to launch in the coming weeks.

Renault has started communication for the Kwid by way of a TV commercial. Bookings have also commenced at dealerships.

When launched, the Kwid will be powered by a three-cylinder 0.8-liter petrol engine capable of delivering 57 bhp and 74 Nm of torque, through a 5-speed manual transmission. A more powerful 1.0-liter engine and the convenience of an automated manual transmission will arrive on the hatchback later.

According to reports, the Kwid will be capable of delivering 25 km/l in ARAI tests, outpacing its main competitors, the Maruti Alto 800 and the Hyundai Eon which have figures in the region of 21 km/l. At the time of unveiling the Kwid in Chennai in May 2015, Renault announced that the Kwid will deliver class-leading efficiency, further bolstering the reported figure.

A driver side airbag will be optional on the Kwid.

Coming to the dimensions, the Kwid measures 3,680 mm in length and 1,580 mm in width. It's crossover-like styling also ensures in a high ground clearance of 180 mm, while the boot space is rated at 300 liters, another class-leading figure.

Other features that will be seen on the Kwid include a 7-inch touchscreen Media NAV system, a digital speedometer, an optional driver-side airbag and front power windows. Bookings for the Kwid have started at dealerships against a payment of INR 25,000.
