125,000 Renault Kwids will be on Indian roads by end-2016 - Report
Renault sells about 9,000 units of the Kwid per month.
In an interview with ET Auto, Mr. Sumit Sawhney, CEO of Renault India states that around 125,000 Renault Kwids will be on the road by the end of this year. So far, they've sold 75,000 units of the Kwid since its launch in September 2015.
Renault have already received over 1.5 Lakh bookings for the Renault Kwid, which is expected to significantly increase as they widen the lineup with the 1.0L and 1.0L AMT variants. The 1.0L MT variant was launched earlier this week at prices starting from INR 3.83 Lakhs - around INR 22,000 more expensive than the Kwid 0.8L RxT.
The Kwid’s success in the market can be attributed to its mini crossover styling and highly competitive price, thanks to the CMF platform’s 98 percent localisation (which is one of the highest for a new car). Top-end models feature a digital instrument cluster, 7-inch MEDIANAV touchscreen system, optional driver's airbag and seat-belt pretensioner, which are first-in-class features.

Given that the Kwid's CMF-A platform is highly localised in the market, Renault will experiment various different bodystyles like sedan, SUV and MPV based on that platform. A few products reported to be in the pipeline include an SUV (codenamed HBC) and sedan (codenamed LBC).
