IAB reader spots the Renault Kwid testing in Europe - Spied
Kwid will be manufactured and exported globally from India.
The Renault Kwid has been spotted testing in Europe for the first time in full production body, courtesy of IAB reader Bas from Netherlands. It is completely wrapped in camouflage, although there is no mistaking its familiar design.
This falls in-line with import documents revealing that the India-made Kwid was exported to European markets such as France and Germany for testing and validation. Though India will serve as a production hub for the Renault Kwid, Africa and South America will be the first ports of call. Iran is said to be another market in the running for the Kwid.
The international-spec Renault Kwid would have to be re-engineered somewhat to meet stricter safety regulations, while a more powerful engine, better tires and different suspension setting would also be called for in some markets where speed limits are higher.

Gerard Detourbet, Alliance Global Vice President, Alliance A-Segment Development Unit, told IndianAutosBlog.com that the CMF-A is a global platform and that ABS and ESP can be integrated if there is a need. A new 1.0-liter petrol engine and an automated manual transmission is in the pipeline which is expected to debut at the Auto Expo 2016 on February 3.
The Renault Kwid international-spec will also be offered with dual airbags and ABS, which is not found on the 800 cc version sold in India. Styling will be adapted too, as seen in the body-colored bumpers and simplified styling of the Brazilian spec Kwid.
