Renault Lodgy vs Maruti Ertiga vs Toyota Innova vs Honda Mobilio - Comparo

The just-launched Renault Lodgy competes in the MPV segment populated by the Maruti Ertiga, Honda Mobilio, Chevrolet Enjoy, Mahindra Xylo and the Toyota Innova, which is priced at a premium. Here is how the Lodgy stacks up.

At 4,498 mm in length, the Lodgy is the longest monocoque MPV in this segment. The Innova and Xylo are longer than the Lodgy, but are based on a ladder-frame chassis. In comparison, the Ertiga is the shortest MPV at 4,265 mm.

The highlight of the Lodgy is its wheelbase, which at 2,810 mm is the longest in the segment. The Xylo is the widest at 1,850 mm, followed by the Innova and Lodgy at 1,765 mm and 1,751 mm respectively. The Xylo also redeems itself as the tallest MPV in its class.

When it comes to engines, the monocoque MPVs employ units displacing under 1.5 liters, while the larger Innova uses a 2.5-liter diesel engine, and the Xylo gets a 2.2-liter unit. The Xylo makes the most power and torque in this class at 120 PS and 280 Nm. In comparison, the more powerful 110 PS of the Lodgy churns 245 Nm of torque. This variant of the Lodgy is the only MPV in this segment to get a 6-speed transmission as the rest are matched to a 5-speed gearbox.

The Mobilio continues to be the most fuel efficient MPV at 24.2 km/l, followed by the 85 PS Lodgy at 21.04 km/l. In comparison, the segment leader, the Innova, returns the lowest of 12.99 km/l.

Coming to pricing, the Lodgy Std 85 PS has the same starting price as the Honda Mobilio at INR 8.19 lakhs. The Ertiga and Enjoy still undercut this by INR 78,000. The top-end Lodgy RxZ 110, priced at INR 11.79 lakhs is INR 8,000 cheaper than the Mobilio RS (O), and a whopping INR 4 lakhs cheaper than the Innova.
