Spied - Tata Indica Vista CR4

Since the introduction of the Tata Indica Vista back in mid-2008, Tata Motors kept working on the Vista, making many revisions to the variants, equipment and its looks.

The Vista is offered with four engine options - 1.4 TDI, 1.3 MJD, 1.2 SAFIRE, 1.4 SAFIRE - making it one of the very diverse cars, from the variants perspective.

With tightening emission norms and customers constantly looking for new and upgraded technology, Tata Motors is working on the 5th engine option. Yes, you guessed it, its the 1.4-liter CR4 engine that is configured to return 25kmpl on the Indica and Indigo carlines.

The addition of the CR4 could make the Vista return 25kmpl or more, making it the most fuel economical vehicle in its class. The spyshot posted on MotorBash.com reveals the operation, one can see the 'CR4' badge above the front wheel arch.

The engine will certainly not only make the Tata Vista more fuel efficient, but perhaps cheaper as Tata Motors need not pay royalty to Fiat.

The 1,396cc CR4 diesel engine (previously known as 'DICOR') puts out 70PS power and 140Nm of torque. Compared to the TDI variant, it is less noisy, drives better, and would make the Vista less expensive in BS4 cities.

Motorbash is not expecting Tata Motors to make any cosmetic revisions. It did not see the Manza's pro-RHD country dashboard or a revised interior.

Another high-power diesel variant is in the works with a 90bhp Fiat Multi-jet engine (carried over from the Linea). The variant was caught on test earlier this year, but its launch date remains a big unknown. This would make the Vista the only hatchback in India, and perhaps in Asia, with engines that come in 6 guises.
