Tata 45X concept - Auto Expo 2018 Live

Along with the Tata H5X concept, Tata Motors has unveiled the Tata 45X concept. This concept previews the design of a new hatchback positioned above the Tata Tiago.

The Tata 45X concept is the first hatchback created using the brand’s new design language called ‘Impact Design 2.0’. While it’s still pretty much in the early stages of development, it does give a hint of what to expect from the production version: clean and uncluttered surfaces, a minimalistic front grille that gently blends into sleek headlamps, a ‘Tri-Arrow’ pattern on the front bumper, large alloy wheels, floating roofline, sleek wraparound tail lamps and a sporty rear spoiler.

The Tata 45X concept’s production version will have a body measuring not more than four metres in length. It will arrive as the first model underpinned by the Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture, internally known as the ‘Advanced Modular Platform’ (AMP). Only 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel models are expected at launch, but a pure electric variant could follow later. The new platform is ready for electric powertrains.

Tata Motors has not announced when it will launch the Tata 45X concept’s production version. What we do know is that this model (codename: Tata X451) will compete with the likes of Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20. It should arrive a couple months after the Tata H5X concept-based SUV, which is due in early 2019.
