Report - Tata Bolt to launch in Indonesia in February 2015

Indonesia will likely get only the petrol variant.

Tata will launch the Bolt hatchback in the Indonesian market in February 2015, a marketing official of PT TMDI (Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia) told local reporters. The car will be showcased in Indonesia for the first time at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) which opens its doors on September 18, 2014.

The Bolt will be showcased at IIMS this month.

For the Indonesian market, only the petrol variant of the Bolt would go on sale. It is powered by Tata's new 1.2-liter turbocharged Revotron petrol engine which is capable of producing 85 PS (83.8 bhp) and 140 Nm of torque. The engine will be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Based on the Vista, the Bolt gets a redesigned exterior and interior, and engineers have also redone certain mechanicals of the car such as the NVH, steering system and the suspension.

The hatchback gets features such as projector headlights, a touchscreen infotainment system, ABS and dual airbags.

Other noteworthy features include projector headlights, 15-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors, multifunction steering wheel, ABS, dual airbags, climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system.

Competitors: Maruti Swift, VW Polo, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Fiat Punto Evo

Expected Price: INR 4.5 - 6.75 lakhs, ex-Showroom

Launch Date in India: By end of this year
